Varma Mutual Pension Insurance Company is Finland's largest earnings-related pension insurer, with its head office in the Salmisaari district of Helsinki. It was formed in 1998 and is a mutual company owned by its policyholder companies, its self-employed customers and the insured employees. It provides statutory earnings-related pension cover for more than 900,000 clients and invests the assets backing those liabilities in fixed income, equities, real estate and hedge funds. The value of its investments was EUR 71.4 billion in mid-2024, and it employs around 550 people.
